When a nail adornment product claims to be idiot proof, I am just the idiot to test it. I Am Your Muse is a NCLA special edition set of nail wraps from www.cultbeauty.co.uk. It's a blood red base with black lace overlay.
The set contains 44 nail wraps for £12.50 which will give 3-4 applications - the four extra are to take into account varying nail sizes. The process is to apply clear nail polish (not included) and let it dry, then peel and stick the wrap over it (they're like fine sticky backed plastic) before filing off the excess (a nail file for doing this is included in the pack). You can then top with clear varnish to seal. To remove, you just peel off - it takes off some of the clear polish underneath too, so it's important to apply the clear polish as a base. You don't want to remove a layer of nail with the wrap.
I did find these easy to apply. You can lift and reposition as long as you haven't stuck the whole thing down fully. I could have been slightly more careful on my ring finger (I've overlapped with the cuticle a bit, but it looked better a day or two later when my nail had grown). It's not at all bad for a first attempt. These are great for special occasions and do last pretty well - no chips for obvious reasons. I removed mine after 4 days, and they were still looking good - only my right hand index tip had gotten a little worn, but I think going over the free edge with the clear top coat would help to prevent that.
The effect of the lace and red gradation would show better on longer nails than mine, but I do like that the lace placement isn't the same on each wrap - the randomness of them appeals to me more than a uniform pattern. There are lots of wraps available in a variety of different styles/patterns; I like the look of the galaxy print and the wax print ones too.
Disclosure: PR sample.

Love Love Love! and I agree the random lace placement looks better. They look great on you!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI can't get the hang of nail wraps but these look nice on you.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if I find them easier as my nails are quite short. Thanks Marcia. x
DeleteI am happy to hear about nailwraps that are on the easy-to-use side of the spectrum. As beautiful some nailwraps can look, I'm afraid they often need the help of a friend or artist and I think yours look really good on if done by yourself.
ReplyDeleteAll my own work! I didn't know they are usually more difficult to apply, but I found these straightforward.
DeleteI love it and think you did a great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteSorry if this information is already available somewhere, but would you mind sharing where the ring is from? Thank you very much.
ReplyDeleteHi - it's La Muerta from www.crazypigdesigns.com - there's a shop in Covent Garden, as well as the online webstore. Love their stuff!
DeleteThese look great (and so you!) I'm glad to hear application is easy and that they last decently. I've been tempted, but haven't indulged yet ... but it looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Proximity - sorry it's taken me so long to reply. They're fun to put on, but peeling them off does make me wince a bit! Love the design though.
