Aurelia Probiotic Skincare is a new range launched in January, and when BritishBeautyBlogger wrote about it I investigated, found a line that appeared to have everything I look for in skincare, and bought a couple of items (serum and day cream). I've been using these for a bit over a month now (about 5 weeks) and as it is a new brand I thought I'd get my initial review out there.
The Revitalise & Glow Serum is a light, milky, non-greasy serum that absorbs quickly. It contains probiotics and peptides that are meant to help reduce inflammation and support the skin. It leaves my skin feeling comfortable and balanced.
If you liked the Nude Cellular Renewal Serum (which is currently out of stock and rumoured to be being reformulated) I'd definitely recommend giving this serum a go.
The Cell Revitalise Day Moisturiser is a rich but non-greasy whipped cream texture. Again, it absorbs well, doesn't leave a film but leaves my skin feeling comfortable. It also contains the probiotic complex.
I use this twice a day; the night cream is apparently richer, but this suits my normal to dry skin perfectly well for day and evening.
My skin is looking and feeling balanced, supple and well-rested with these two products - I've been using them with Pai cleanser and orange blossom toner, ESpa eye cream, and nothing else. I don't think any skin care can work miracles on its own (diet and lifestyle matter more, in my opinion) but these are certainly very good and reasonably priced for premium products. My skin is easily irritated and/or congested by the wrong products, but it has been well behaved for the whole period I've been using these.
The serum is £47 for 30ml and the moisturiser is £36 for 60ml, available from www.aureliaskincare.com.

Not bad prices, either. Hmn ...
ReplyDeleteReally good for this sort of line and ingredients.
DeleteAbsolutely! Very nice looking ingredients list. I have the cleanser on the way, really looking forward to trying it - not in the market for a moisturiser until all the Goat Cream is gone ...
DeleteThis sounds like an interesting line, it was a delight to read the ingredients list and not find a load of poop at the top of the chain! No wafting here.
ReplyDeleteYes! :)
DeleteI have been so curious for a real review of Aurelia from somebody who knows their (organic) skincare. I've seen it discussed on net-a-porter, Vogue and another glossy magazine but I trust the beauty-blogosphere more on these topics. Good, now I really want the serum and agree upon the total spectrum of a healthy lifestyle (and the serum to give you an extra bit of help)
ReplyDeleteHi Birkinbeautybag Thanks :) Totally - no skincare can ever make up for unhealthy diet, smoking or frying yourself! This is a good line to support the skin though. PS - is the Blythe doll in your avatar your own? If so, I am very envious :)
DeleteI like the sound of jasmine, plumeria, tuberose and mandarin, it seems like it smells lovely also!
ReplyDeleteHi Meeta - the scent was the only thing I was a little wary of beforehand (not a tuberose fan), but it isn't too strong, it's more of a slightly floral citrus. It is lovely.
DeleteHmm, thank you, useful to have a review from someone who has sensitive/easily congested skin... I just tried out a Juice Beauty moisturiser, which broke me out awfully (I think it was just too heavy)! I'm thinking of trying the RMS un-cover up now, after reading your review, to try to cover the spots and marks it left on my skin by my recent break out. I don't usually wear foundation at all, but feel the need for something at present! I'm torn between the RMS and some of the Vapour products, I quite like their Illusionist concealer and Stratus Skin Perfector... any advice from your experience would be most welcome!
ReplyDeleteHi Lucy - oh, what a shame, it's a horrible feeling when you don't usually have much to cover up too.
DeleteRMS wouldn't be my first choice for marks left behind by spots. It's quite creamy and better for undereyes/around nose in my experience. The Vapour concealer is quite creamy too, but a thicker coverage than RMS. If you have the Vapour concealer to hand, give that a try, and only use it where you most need it. I honestly wouldn't switch to using foundation all over - I just don't like the look of it personally, it looks too flat to my eye for everyday on good skin.
Another option would be Cover FX cream foundation - as long as you get on okay with the chemical sunscreens it contains. It doesn't have mineral oil etc in it, it covers and lasts very well, and has a good range of shades. Again, you can just use it where you need it.
If you can get hold of it, La Roche Posay Effaclar AI spot treatment is absolutely brilliant for calming and healing spots, even the under the surface ones.
Thanks so much all the helpful info, I really appreciate you taking time to reply!
DeleteI've been trying the vapour concealer after getting a sample from being content.com, I like the texture and feel on my skin and the colour is a great match for my skin, but I was torn whether to wait for a couple of RMS samples (I ordered one, but picked totally the wrong shade - tricky to judge online, I know for future ref I need to get a range of samples!) or whether to go with the vapour concealer. I definitely don't want to go for a full face of foundation - I like to keep my skin looking as fresh and as natural as possible and to use products which are fairly natural, which is why I've found your blog so great... Really refreshing to see so many reviews of natural/clean/cleaner brands. I was using Madara sunflower until my skin broke out, it's a little too light in terms of coverage at the moment, though, without some extra help from a reasonable concealer.
I Will look out for the spot treatment - that sounds like just what I need! I've been improvising with honey masks, which have actually helped a lot, so far, but something less sticky would come in useful!!
Thanks again!
Lucy : )
Just the word probiotic makes me want it.
ReplyDeleteMe too - it's a shame Nude are mucking about with their serum, but this fills the gap nicely.
DeleteLooks like a really nice line. What are the probiotics intended to do for the skin?
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria
DeleteIn a nutshell, probiotics are meant to help reduce/buffer the stress/inflammatory reaction of the skin - if you calm down inflammation before it happens you can reduce stress related issues/damage. There's more about it on the Aurelia website here:
http://www.aureliaskincare.com/science-qa.php
Oh these sound right up my street...
ReplyDeleteI reckon you would get on well with these :)
DeleteWhat stunning ingredients lists! Do these smell wonderful? I may have to invest in the cream.
ReplyDeleteThey smell lovely, and not too strong. V nice textures.
DeleteI've been out of the loop for a while and have missed reading or hearing anything about this range! I am very tempted by the serum. I am a nerd who keeps a Word doc with the ingredients of all my skincare(!) and have done a quick comparison between this and the old Nude serum. (They have DEFINITELY reformulated all their products using cheaper alternative ingredients and I have therefore stopped using their products). The only thing missing from the ingredients list is sodium hyaluronate which I must admit I like in a serum. But this looks really interesting.
ReplyDeleteHaving said all that, for the past 10 months I have been using Pai's Rosehip Oil morning and night in place of serum, and I have to say, for a fraction of the price, I see no decline in skin texture, and an overall softening of sun damage. Plus, it heals blemish marks faster than anything I've ever tried. I'm trying to cut back on my beauty expenditure and the oil *may* have provided me with the answer!
In any case thanks for the introduction to Aurelia; I'm off to the website. (sorry for essay! ;) )
Hi Jo - I tried a sample sachet of the new Nude oil and Did. Not. Like. I did think of you with this one - meant to give you a shout about it. Less expensive than the Nude too.
DeleteInteresting you say that about the rosehip oil. I used rosehip oil from Organic Pharmacy after having C left me with melasma, and it helped to fade that and left my skin in excellent condition. I think I'll get some of the Pai for nighttime use (the Aurelia night oil contains wheatgerm, which gives me clogged pores, so I'm avoiding it.)
I preach about Pai's rosehip oil to anyone who will listen! I am amazed - and def thought that oil would clog my pores. I will only use the pure rosehip oil - although I am vaguely tempted by RMK's one...but v pricy.
DeleteI'm having to use Pai's lotus toner as well though - which ups the ££ - very expensive for a toner (which I haven't used since the Clinique teenage yea!) but I've found I need one to help blend the oil.
Ooh, skincare excitement!
*RMS* oil, I meant...
DeleteI love that Pai toner - I'm using it too. I was never a toner user until Pai and Live Native.
DeleteThe RMS oil smells and feels lovely, but it is very ££. If the rosehip is working well, I'd stick with it.
Hi there, very interesting post. I will have a look at the cream. In terms of oils, I have been using yuli skincare oils for a while and really like them. They are organic but use things like acai derived ferulic acid, biofermented garlic, supercritical extracts and hylauronjc acid and no EO's. They use no fillers and I found their post about ingredients and formulations on their website very informative. Laura :)
ReplyDeleteHi Laura - Yuli looks really interesting! I hope someone picks it up over here.
DeleteThis sounds promising, thanks for sharing this, I'll go and have a peruse at the website :) x
ReplyDeleteThis looks great thanks for the review. What are your thoughts on it being part of an anti-aging routine. I am afraid I am not sure on what ingredients to look for. I love the look of the cleanser from this range too.
ReplyDeleteHi Grace,
ReplyDeleteJust read this, you always find amazing brands and I feel you are always one step ahead of me. I love Aurelia products. The Night Cream and Miracle Cleanser are my favourites. Do you think you will make any more purchases of Aurelia? The Night Cream and Miracle Cleanser smell completely different to each other and the Day Cream and Serum. I'm really glad you liked them, I was so impressed this comes a very close second with to my beloved Vaishaly Products which is my ultimate favourite brand.

Hi Danny - I'm using the Miracle Cleanser at the moment - it is very good. I would definitely repurchase the Serum. I'm not sure I'll repurchase the Day Cream, although it's a very good product. I prefer moisturisers with a little more slip, although I'm sure it's a very good base for makeup. I personally prefer the Live Native moisturiser - and you introduced me to that line :)
