I like the shape of the tubes, which have a differently shaped top for each of four colour families; reds, neutrals, pinks and berries.
These are now available in the UK at Selfridges London, but a friend from Canada helped me to get hold of one of the reds, Tannin.Tannin is described as a poppy red. I'd say it's not as bright or orange as the red of most poppies, if I was being absolutely picky. It's a slightly darkened classic balanced red - it leans very slightly to the blue-pink side when it fades to a stain on my lips.
I thought I wouldn't be able to show you a lip swatch at the moment as I have a horrible cold and my lips are quite sore. I was pleased to find that the creamy and comfortable texture of the Bite Beauty Creme lipstick means that I can apply it without bothering my lips and I find it quite soothing, which is unusual for a red.
The payoff for the comfy texture is that I've found it does fade to a stain relatively quickly - I'm left with a pinkish red stain within two hours of application. It does fade evenly though. If you want to keep a bright deep red, expect to reapply frequently with this product.
I have heard the High Pigment Matte Pencils last very well, and I might give one of those a try next, perhaps as a base for this lipstick over the top.
These are available from Selfridges, where I think they are £18 if I remember correctly.

Hi Grace,
ReplyDeleteThe lipstick does look very promising and the fact that it doesn't contain wheatgerm makes it something I wish to try.
Can you please recommend me where I find these lipsticks in London?
Hi Goya - they are in Selfridges, in the new 'Beauty Playground' bit at the back (where Suqqu and RMK used to be). They're on a smallish display on a table, near the other makeup - not the best set up, but hopefully that will help you to find them.
DeleteI love the concept!
ReplyDeleteThe color is nice, as well! It reminds me of RMS beauty Rapture, which i love
Hi Clara - it's a great concept, particularly for lipstick. It is along the lines of Rapture (a little less brown, I think - to justify owning both!)
DeleteThank you, Grace. The packaging is beautiful as well.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I like it. The ingredients, colour and packaging make it very appealing. You wear red so beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The rest of the face is looking under the weather at the moment :)
DeleteI just picked up their honey lip lacquer, can't wait to wear it. It is a red too.
ReplyDeleteOh, that sounds pretty. I do want to have a longer look at the range.
DeleteYou really have a knack for ferreting out the most interesting products! It is a lovely colour on you. What a strange name for a poppy red lipstick though. I don't wish I lived in London but I do wish I had a wider choice close to home.
ReplyDeleteI am a beauty ferret. I love that! :)
DeleteI think all the colours are named for wine-y things. It makes me think of tea though.
What a lovely shade of red, really suits you.
ReplyDeleteI hope they put the brand online as I'd like to give it a try x
Hopefully it'll go online soon. Selfridges takes a while to get some stuff online.
Deletewhat a beautiful lipstick
ReplyDeletethank you :)
DeleteSuch a beautiful shade, thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marina - I love a good red :)
DeleteI wish we had Bite cosmetics here in Oz, this looks gorgeous.
ReplyDeletewe do! They are stoked at theiconic.com.au and kleinsperfumary.com.au although for higher price at $36.95
DeleteOuch! on the price of cosmetics in Australia :( It's good that you have these, but the prices you pay...
DeleteLoving this range! Any idea if the products are tested on animals?
ReplyDeleteHi Has - do you know, I assumed it wouldn't be because that doesn't gel with the brand ethos, but it doesn't say that anywhere. I'm going to send an email to the brand and I'll report back.
DeleteI don't suppose you've heard back? I love Bite, but not if they conduct animal testing.
DeleteNot yet, and I've tweeted them too :( I will continue to bug them - I might try Selfridges next, as they stock the brand.
DeleteI've seen on two other blogs and on the Sephora discussion forum that they don't conduct animal testing. But one blog is from 2 years ago, the other is undated, and the Sephora thing is old info. A LOT can change in 2 years. And it's really odd that their mission statement makes no mention about animal testing.
ReplyDeleteI Facebook messaged them, but haven't heard back.
I hope the silence isn't ominous. :/
Just to update - I still haven't heard back from them either. I'm not sure it's ominous as much as they're *really* bad at social media - they're a broadcaster, and they don't appear to reply to any questions. It's very disappointing - my gut says they don't test, but WHY not say so? Really sorry I couldn't be more help.
