Here's a short video (please excuse the completely naked face - without brows, lips and a bit of concealer I do look odd!) showing how I make it and the press and release technique for using this type of exfoliator/cleanser.
The ingredients are very simple - a teaspoon of oil (I used almond as I happened have some in the medicine cabinet) the same amount of ground oats and a little water to make into a smoothish paste.

Wow, this is great. I love your blog!

thank you :) I had a look at your blog too - I love the sunset nails!
DeleteLooks great!I have used Almond meal and it is a bit harsh.
ReplyDeleteHi and thank you! I find the oats gentler - they seem to melt more with the water and oil.
DeleteI used to love making home made face masks and scrubs when I was 14, I am sure they must have run regular articles in "Jackie" mag or something as I am sure I would never have though of smearing porridge on my face all by myself!! It makes perfect sense though, even all these years later, given how soothing oat products are for sensitive skin. My biggest teen diy beauty fail was the egg rinse on my hair. How was I supposed to know that hot water would be hot enough to cook the beaten egg I had rubbed through my hair?? My poor mother could barely see to help rinse the scramble off through her tears of laughter!!
ReplyDeleteOh the egg hair mask! That brings back some memories... Did you do the egg white face mask too? Can't...move...mouth...
DeleteWow, thank you Grace for posting this! I really really appreciate it.

P.S. Do you ever do blog sales?
Hi Tammy - you're welcome :)
DeleteI don't do blog sales. I tend to give things I'm no longer using to family and friends, or to Give & Make Up.
Grace is it possible to receive your posts via email?
ReplyDeleteHello - I've just added a subscribe by email box over there on the right, so thanks for asking! I think it'll probably be a short feed version, as I had to set my blog feed to short to combat scraper blogs that steal content through the RSS feed.
DeleteIt does give you the first paragraph of the post and let's you know if there is a post you'd be interested in reading though.
