Left to right: Sue Devitt Lonely Splendour eyeshadow, Surat Eye Intensifier pencil, and for comparison, Rouge Bunny Rouge Solstice Halcyon eyeshadow.
Swatched left to right: Sue Devitt pencil, eyeshadow and RBR eyeshadow. Lonely Splendour is noticeably more beige/brown to Solstice Halcyon's mauve undertones.
I like Surat and Lonely Splendour worn together for a subtly defined eye, and here's (possibly the taupest ever) step by step of how I apply them:
 |
| Bare eye |
 |
| Liner on top lashline |
 |
| liner blended |
 |
| liner added to lower lashline, blended |
 |
| eyeshadow buffed over lid from lash to just below brow |
 |
| mascara and eyebrow pencil added |
The finished eye doesn't look massively different (and the effect is less apparent in photos than in real life) but it gives a subtle polish and definition to the eye. I like the play of the slightly different textures and depth of the liner and shadow.
Here I'm wearing with an uncharacteristically (for me) nude rest of face: Sue Devitt Koh Samui (light neutral) blush and Sue Devitt Lip Intensifier (chubby pencil) in Kirakira (nude). The Sue Devitt tonal taupe eye is also perfectly suited for a bright lip; today I'm wearing it with Ilia Neon Angel.
Sue Devitt products are available from Fenwicks and Harvey Nichols in London, and from
www.qvcuk.com.
Disclosure: Sue Devitt eye pencil and eyeshadow are PR samples. I bought Koh Samui (and the RBR Solstice Halcyon), Kirakira was also a PR sample.
You wear makeup so elegantly Grace. It's always captivating.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you. I always admire how you put stuff together, including makeup, so that means a lot to me :)
DeleteA very nice look, I especially like Surat blended on your lower lash line as it gives a subtle glow.
ReplyDeleteI do love the Eye Intensifier pencils, they are so easy to work with and the colours are very beautiful. Lonely Splendour looks pretty too.
Hi Meeta - the Eye Intensifiers are great. They're perfect for the way I like to wear pencils - smudged under a powder for a softer line. Sue Devitt has a great eye for colour. x
DeleteHmm. I think these colours border too far on the 'eyebag dark' side of things to suit me, especially on the lower lash line. I'll stick with my Naked 2 Palette!

Not a taupe fan? :) I like them because they look like natural shadows, but this sort of shade does polarise! I still haven't tried the Naked, I keep meaning to have a look at it.
DeleteAmazing. After having a wedding make up trial, I've had a list of products I need to buy thats been scrunched up in the bottom of my bag for months. I never ever wear eye shadow as it makes me feel like a drag queen but you wear this eye make up very well. It looks so natural! Unfortunately, QVC haven't got these particular products in stock but I now feel inspired enough to go out and purchase these. Thank you! x
ReplyDeleteHi Kate - I'm glad it was helpful! I think the lashes and brows are more important than eyeshadow in photos for definition, so if you don't feel comfy in eyeshadow then I'd just skip it. x
DeleteI love my Eye Intensifier pencils after a few years and many other brands tried. They just blend nicely and stay on well over a primer base. I wish there would be some new shades - I would like a subtle golden beige.
ReplyDeleteSurat is of course the perfect taupe. Looks so pretty in the look you are wearing. Greengirl
Hi Greengirl - these are fantastic pencils, I love them as a base. Fingers crossed for more shades.
