rms Beauty Karma eyeshadow review, swatch and FOTD

I wanted to buy this eyeshadow as soon as it was announced by rms Beauty, so I was fortunate to be sent it without charge. I've said before that the line could do with a darker, cooler eyeshadow shade, and Karma fits that space very well. Like all the rms Beauty eyeshadows, this is a cream formulation in a base of coconut oil, beeswax, jojoba oil and cocoa butter.

Swatch on fingertip. The brown tones and silver glow are more apparent when swatched, but it isn't frosty. It's a blackened brown (or soft brown black) with subtle silver shimmer - it's less shimmery than the other cream eyeshadow shades to my eye, although it has the same pleasing slightly glossy finish.
Comparison swatch: rms Beauty Magnetic on left, Karma on right.
Angled to catch the sun and show the shimmer.
Karma Applied. I'm wearing Karma alone on my eyes with a little bit of black liner underneath my eyes and rms Beauty Moment Lip Shine on my lips and cheeks. This is one wash of the eye colour; you can build it up in layers, although it does increase creasing. It's not something I mind at all because I love the finish and feel of these (and it's very quick and easy to fix with a fingertip), but I would not recommend to anyone bothered by creasing. Karma gives a soft smoky eye.
This costs £19 for 4.25g, is available in the UK from www.beingcontent.com and you can see the colours in person at the London shop. It is available in Ireland from www.misebeauty.com (also ship internationally) and in the US from www.rmsbeauty.com (and other stockists - details on the rms Beauty website.)

Disclosure: product provided without charge.

  3. Hi Grace,

Now I have to go through with that ever-postponed rms order. I guess Karma is the one pushing me through the tipping point, thanks to your casual but sultry look ;) I seconded Charlie, you look divine in that photo and I am partial towards that lilac streak as well.

    Cheers!

    1. Hi Aylin - thank you :) Karma is a great colour.

I love the lilac, I would love to do the full head, but I think I only just about get away with the streak at work!

  5. That looks excellent. I really need some RMS in my life.
I'm also not bothered by a bit of creasing from cream eyeshadows ... I just check them whenever I'm in a bathroom and re-smudge a bit.
I've been wearing Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in Ebloui a lot recently, and it creases - more creasing the less sheerly you apply.
But I like the feeling of a really workable cream eyeshadow. And this has been getting a lot more face-time than my MUFE cream eyeshadow which doesn't crease at all .. because application is so much easier and faster. It feels kinder on the eyes, too.

    1. Hi Proximity - this is exactly what I like about the rms - they feel much kinder on my eyes than the long wearing budge proof cream shadows. It doesn't take a minute to fix, and I like the light-reflecting qualities.

  6. Oh wow that really suits you and I have to add my voice to all the others - you look beautiful in that photo, you look like a much younger, fresher faced version of Cher, that is meant to be a compliment so if you hate her forgive me! The lilac streak works brilliantly with the darker eye make up. x

    1. Nope, I like Cher so I'll happily take it. Keep me away from the mad wigs though ;)

    1. I like the mucky finger painting aspect of it - this line works best when you aren't too nice and precise, I think. Thanks v much :)

  8. So pretty, the eye and lip colour pairs really well, Jane's spot on with her "casual but sultry" :)
Do they crease even if you use an eye primer? x

    1. Hi Replica - thank you :) I've never tried them with a primer, but I bet they would still crease. A glossy texture is never going to be creaseless, whatever you do.

    2. Thanks Grace, my momentary hope is dashed, I was hoping you'd say, "Yes a primer would be fine, go forth and buy them all" ;)
