Neon Angel is a bright neutral pink cream formula that doesn't lean either blue or too warm. It's slightly brighter than Tom Ford Pure Pink, although it's very similar when applied. No shimmer at all, just pigmented creamy pinkness. It feels quite creamy when first applied and I was concerned it might migrate, but I didn't have any smearing issues and the colour lasted quite well - it's still going strong after a cup of tea and a couple of hours, but does need reapplication after lunch.
Sway is a golden bronze with shimmer; the base is yellow toned rather than red or orange. It warms up my pale olive skin without looking tangoed or obviously bronzed, although for a very pale skin I'd go for the vanilla-toned Polka Dots & Moonbeams.
Swatched.
I love a bright pink lip. It's a little more casual than a red, but still a quick and easy way to add a brightening splash of colour to a face. I have high contrast colouring and need some colour to avoid looking wan.Picture of my bare lips, and then with Neon Angel applied.
Full face picture, also with Sway on my cheeks. I've got on my usual brown-liner-taupe-eyeshadow eye combination going on (Rouge Bunny Rouge Lola and Solstice Halcyon.)
I bought both of these from www.beingcontent.com. The lipsticks are £20, and the multi-sticks £30.

Love the colour of the lipstick. And it looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marina :)
DeleteBeautiful colour lip and the illuminator looks amazing - Can't wait to schedule a Content visit!

I think you're going to love the new Ilia. Have you been to the Content shop before? I love the brands they carry.
DeleteI'm glad you posted about these, I have been trying to decide what I want to buy from the new items, does the Illuminator have a light weight feel? Do you have any thoughts on the multi blush sticks?
ReplyDeletex
Hi Replica - the illuminator is a sort of solid gel texture. It feels very light on the skin. I liked the multi blush sticks, but the pale pink one was out of stock - that's the one I would've bought to go with the Neon Angel - the other pink was quite warm.
DeleteThanks Grace, the pale pink one was the one I was thinking of going for :) x
DeleteNeon Pink is fabulous on you! I'm so impressed with how pigmented these are whilst maintaining a creamy cushioning base. I will definitely be going back for one of the multi-sticks. Thank you so much for the swatches.
ReplyDeleteHi MB - they are a v comfortable lipstick to wear. Are you still thinking about the warm pink one?
DeleteYes, I'm still keen on the one you reported back on. Having seen them, do you think I might be better with one of the other shades?
DeleteHey MB - I think All of Me is the right colour for you - it'd work with the nude lipsticks, the reds and Arabian Knights. The only colour I wouldn't pair it with is Neon Angel, which is a much cooler pink tone.
DeleteHi these look gorgeous! Can you use the sway as contouring colour or is it too sparkly? Do you know how it compares to Nars laguna Stick or vapour 222? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi - actually, it's really similar in colour and tone to the Laguna stick. It's not as orange-based as Palm Beach and less grey than St Barts. I prefer the feel of the Ilia Beauty though - not as silicone-y as the NARS, which sometimes feel like they sit on the top of the skin.
DeleteI prefer a matte shade for contouring personally (I use an Illamasqua blush) but this isn't so shimmery that it'd turn you into a disco ball. If you can use Laguna, you can use Sway.
Thank you!
DeleteLooks beautiful, that colour suits you! I've had my eye on the new range of Ilia products for a while... I have the other bright pink colour - Shell Shock - and absolutely love it. I find that Ilia lipsticks become stain-like after a while (rather than smearing everywhere) which I really like. And Nobody's Baby is an excellent nude if you're in the market for that :)
ReplyDeleteHi - thank you! I find the same - they don't smear or travel, and kind of set into the lips (without becoming drying at all). I have Nobody's Baby, and it's one of the very few nudes I can wear without looking corpse-ish. Beautiful colour.
DeleteI Love ilia too, particularily lipstickd in nobody's baby and shellshock, the textures are georgeous.. I've ordered the new highlighter and lipstick in funnel of love. Can't wait to try them. I hope they'll be launching some concealer/foundation and Mascaras soon.:)
DeleteI'd love a mascara!
Deletethey have already released the mascaras for pre-orders! so excited!
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI too adore ilia. Is the texture of the highlghters and the multi use sticks the same or slightly different? Do you know how the multi sticks compare to the kjaer weis blushes in terms of colour and texture? And do the sticks contain glitter/sparkle or are they mat? :) thank you!
Hi - the texture was the same to me - a solid gel that melts on application, giving a translucent colour.
DeleteThe multi-use sticks did not contain shimmer - they were just colour, although they aren't matte - the texture itself has a satin sheen on the skin. I think the colours are a little more vivid that Kjaer Weis (probably because Ilia use some synthetic colours to get brighter/clearer colours.) The textures (going from memory, having only seen the Kjaer Weis once, unfortunately) were really quite similar, I think.
Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI tried the highlighter and like it enough. It is similar to the rms, ,w3ll, vapour ones. What i don't understand is why all the natural makeup has to be so oily (based on castor/other oils and waxes). I'm no cosmetic chemist but I have learned that in skincare cellulose is for example used instead of polymers and ingredients like bamboo and natural gums like acacia instead of silicone. Then there are great hydrating ingredients like aloe vera and hylauronic acid. Why are such ingredients never used in makeup to make it cosmetically more appealing? I just feel that every line is doing the same and it always ends up greasy. There's no real innovation in the natural sector.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for your excellent review. Do you feel the multistick in SWAY suits NC15-NC20? Also, I am not that young anymore and I was wondering whethr you feel SWAY is glittery or very sparkly (disoball :-). Your reply would really help me very much. Greetings from Switzerland. B
ReplyDeleteHello B! :) I don't think Sway would be my first choice for you. I'd prefer the Polka Dots and Moonbeams vanilla shade for that skintone, I think, unless you know you are comfortable with bronze on your skintone already. It's not discoball though - the shimmer/sheen is very pretty and gentle. It's much more subtle than something like a NARS stick or blush.
