Suqqu Frame Fix Cream Foundation 102 applied (video)

I said I'd do this video a while ago; it's a short video showing how I apply the Suqqu Frame Fix Cream Foundation. It's very basic; I just use my fingers to apply.

With this foundation, the important thing is to apply immediately after applying moisturiser and to do the face in areas rather than dotting foundation all over and trying to blend. If you don't do both of these things this foundation can be extremely hard to blend, grabs any dry patches and looks patchy and flaky.

On the plus side, the Frame Fix Cream Foundation wears brilliantly. It has a built in primer and lasts all day, and applied correctly it gives a very good finish (no shimmer, just a satin-skin-perfected finish.)

I'm still not convinced 102 is the right shade for me, but I don't think there is a perfect match for me in the new formula. The 100s are too peachy (although they are the 'neutral' shades) the 000s are far too yellow and the 200s a bit too pink. I think I might do better with the 201, but for how often I wear foundation I don't intend to purchase that shade to see if it is a better match.

As I mentioned in my post on the new Jo Malone Vitamin E Day Creme, this is a very good moisturiser to use underneath the Suqqu Frame Fix as the silicones in the Jo Malone give it just enough slip to help the Suqqu foundation glide on smoothly. Although I love Suqqu cosmetics, I find most of the skincare a little too heavy on silicones and alcohol for my skin (which is typical of many Japanese skincare ranges.)

Disclosure: Jo Malone Moisturiser was a PR sample. Suqqu was a purchase.

  1. mmh this look like a bit of work, for something so expensive, especially as I don't wear moisturizer underneath foundation or I get oily :(

    1. It might blend more easily on an oilier skin, but I wouldn't recommend it to you!

It does stay put all day though.

  2. Sounds great! I agree with musing on beauty though!

  3. I love my Suqqu Frame Fix Foundation 003. Hint: it goes on really easily with the Suqqu Makeup Base Creamy - I've got dry skin too.

    1. Hi Jamilla - if you don't mind the feel of the Suqqu moisturisers and primers they are probably the best base for this. It does look good when it's applied.

  4. I love your video reviews!
I agree with you on the wacky shade range -- with something this full coverage a good match is essential. And it's an extra annoyance that they aren't directly equivalent in depth (that was inarticulate -- I mean the palest pink shade is much darker than the palest yellow shade).
    ....I still want it though.

    1. Hello Kate - I know exactly what you mean. I found the old old (one before last) foundation range was the best colour wise - I was the second shade in that and it was a perfect match for me.

  5. Grace you're so lucky to have lovely young skin with some tautness left in it! ;)
I purchased this in December and like you, rarely use foundation. However, recently I've noticed more pigmentation on my cheeks and I wanted something with a little more coverage than my Chantecaille tinted moisturiser to even things out a bit. I got matched to 202. I'm not convinced it's a perfect, perfect match, but it's not bad for the way I use it (ie not all over, only to even things out and only lightly), and it seems to blend into my skin tone a little more after it's been on for a minute or two. I thought it was a bit too yellow and dark if anything and did question the MUA's choice but she stuck with her decision.

As for application - I use a sponge to 'bounce' it on after moisturising, and I think it applies perfectly. I use Nude's Advance Cellular Renewal moisturiser and this also (for me) provides a nicely hydrated base with not too much slip. I'd really recommend this foundation - it's got excellent coverage without feeling heavy on the face, looks natural, doesn't cake - I love it.

Thanks for the vid - you should do more!

    1. Thanks Jo! It's good to have recommendations for other moisturisers that work well with it too, so thank you for that too.

  7. Thank you so much for going to the trouble of doing this video. I live in the U.S. and it's virtually impossible to get a grip on any colors here, and I've wanted to buy this for ages, your video has been so helpful, especially since I would be the same color as you. Thank you so much again.

    1. Hi - yes I bought it from Selfridges. They might not have it online, but it may be worth phoning a counter.

  9. Thanks so much for the video! So helpful.

May I ask if this has alcohol in it at all? I can't seem to find the ingredients listed online, and I do try to avoid alcohol.

    1. Hi - it does have alcohol in it - about halfway down the ingredients list. I think most foundations that 'set' like this one do - it's the volatile evaporating that gives the 'fix'. Shame though :(
