Swatched on my hand. A bright, watermelon pink, it's a little brighter than the shade I was originally after, although I like it a lot. If I buy any more Lip Tars, my next one will be a beige neutral (can't decide between the taupe Uber or beige Petty Beige) to dull down the ones I have.
In order to gauge the relativeness brightness and pinkness of Trollop, here's Anime (left) and Trollop (right). Anime is the brightest and pinkest lip colour I own.
Trollop applied. It's a lovely colour and like all the OCC Lip Tars I've tried reads true to tube, even on my strange mauve lips. The Lip Tar formulation is not very forgiving of dry lips though, and I do find I need to take very good care of mine with balm before and after wearing a Lip Tar. I use the trick of lining outside my lipline with a cream/flesh pencil before applying the Lip Tar to prevent bleeding or feathering.
The colour reminds me of the YSL Rouge Pur Couture #17 Rose Dahlia I bought the christmas before last, but without the YSL fragrance. Although it's more hassle to apply than a traditional lipstick, I prefer the OCC in this case.
In context of the rest of my face. I'm just wearing undereye concealer, brow pencil and OCC Lip Tar in Trollop in this picture, to give the best idea of how the colour works against my skintone. I quite like it worn like this, although a lick of mascara and some rms Beauty Luminizer wouldn't hurt.I bought this from www.cocktailcosmetics.co.uk. Have you tried the Lip Tars, and what are your favourite shades? Any thoughts on what my best neutralising shade might be would be much appreciated.

Beautiful shade, reminds me of a Manhattan matte lip tint that I have :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Eli - I'm off to google those Manhattan lip tints because I haven't heard of them and I do like a good matte lip!
DeleteThat's such a lovely shade, it looks great on you ! My favourite lip tar for now is Strumpet - a beautiful deep purple/red/pink on me, but I like NSFW and Pageant just as well. The only one I don't like is Plum, it loks hideous on me, but it's good to tone down the other colours though it turns them all into a mauvy/greyusg shade, so it may not be exactly what you're after. x
ReplyDeleteHi Klara - I do like the look of Strumpet. I saw Plum on London Beauty Review - it's an...unusual lip colour ;)
DeleteOh, Trollop suits you very well! ;) It is a great colour on it's own with your lovely skin. Maybe I need to start embracing the cake batter spf? My favourite so far is Trollop but I would like to get a lighter colour for bespoking purposes.
ReplyDeleteI do recommend the cake batter spfs, especially with a good serum underneath. ;)
DeleteThis looks really fresh on you. I love it. I can feel myself being drawn into the 'cult' of OCC but just don't know what shade to go for. Btw I always wear lip colour in a similar way - no mascara, barely anything else. I think it looks a bit edgier that way and seems to suit me more than a full face.
ReplyDeleteHello Hannah - me too. Even when I do a bit more, I still like a very stripped back look with a bright lip.
DeleteThere's almost too much choice with OCC - it's hard to narrow it down.
Beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteThat goes so well with your skintone. Did you try it as a blush?
ReplyDeleteTo tone down the color I prefer Conquest over the Uber or Petty Beige. I like Petty for that soft brown eye color. Uber for that more contoured look on the cheek.
Sorry, if this isn't helpful but they are useful on other parts of the face.
Hi Olivia - that's really helpful, I considered Conquest too but wondered if it might make things a bit light for me. I might get that and the Uber. I'll have to try Trollop as a blush too. Thanks :)
Deletewhoaa really pigmented!! and your lips look so full and plumped! pretty :)
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
xx,
Pam
Thanks Pam :)
DeleteGorgeous on you. I have this shade too :)
ReplyDeleteThank you - I bet it looks lovely on you.
DeleteIt looks gorgeous on you and you have frankly amazing skin.
ReplyDeleteCheers :) My teen-goth years of avoiding the sun are paying dividends now :D
DeleteIt looks lovely on you!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Deletethat shade REALLY suits you
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteThat color looks really pretty on you. I also have pigmented lips. So hard to find lip shades.
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel - mine are quite pale, but the shade of them is so odd - a mauve tone that turns a lot of colours. Thank you :)
DeleteThis is a great brightening color on you. I'm so used to seeing you in cooler colors, and this watermelon pink came out of the blue and surprised me! Great color to change up the lip wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteIt's a change for me, I definitely gravitate towards the cooler shades. I do think I like it though.
DeleteThis looks beautiful on you! I love love love a vibrant lip with a next-to-nude face. It's just so very chic.
ReplyDeleteI have Uber and use it successfully to intensify the lighter lip tars like Hush. I've also used it to mute Melange which is a little to warm and orange for me. I think I want Grandma next. I do have and love Memento and don't think it would be too light for you although it is lighter, well, softer, than Trollope which looks amazing on you.t
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect deep pink! I'm surprised I've never tried Trollop myself, especially being such a lover of OCC lip tars.
ReplyDeleteIt's so wearable and sophisticated, and of course you have that amazing staying power.
