MAC Powerpoint Pencil in Buried Treasure

MAC can annoy me no end with the constant whirl of limited edition collections, but they do have some great products hidden in the core range. This eye pencil is one of them. Buried Treasure is a black/brown with subtle gold shimmer - it's softer than a straight black but a little more interesting and brightening than a plain brown eyeliner. The Powerpoint formula does wear better than most pencil eyeliner formulas but if you want to smudge it you need to work quickly; after a minute or two it sets and won't move without eye makeup remover.

The formula reminds me of the GOSH Velvet Touch pencils, although there isn't a very similar colour in that range (the closest is Golden Moss, which is lighter and greener than Buried Treasure).

  2. Oh that is nice compared to a plain brown or black, although I never use eye pencils as I just tend to use a darker eyeshadow on my lash line. That said I used to love a good blue eye liner a la Lady Diana many years ago, cringe!

  4. This is my HG eyeliner and I absolutely adore it, it's so much nicer than a plain brown and a lot more flattering than black on my amber eyes. The only thing I don't like about it is the wastage from constantly having to sharpen it as I use it on my upper-lashline too as it looks a lot nicer than liquid liner.

  5. Powerpoint doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves I think. It is my favorite liner formula. Just the right amount of stickiness and creaminess in my opinion. They also seem to last forever.

  10. I haven't seen this before but love it... reminds me of Laura Mercier Black Gold - one of my fave eyeliners EXCEPT that it's so soft it smudges easily and wears off quicker than I'd like. This sounds like the perfect solution.

    1. Hi Nic - that's a good call, it's a very similar colour to the LM Black Gold (perhaps a touch less gold in the MAC). I have the LM and it is lovely but it doesn't set like the MAC does.
