Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope eye kit in Penelope
J over at Makeupmerriment.com took pity on my Le Metier-less state and offered to get the summer Kaleidoscope Kit in Penelope for me.
It arrived today, and the glue holding three of the four pans had come completely unstuck (I'm going to be charitable and assume that the extra trip over the Atlantic might have been to blame). Luckily, none of the pans were harmed (J is a champion packer) and so I took the opportunity to take a photo of all four pans side by side before making superglue repairs.
The colours all have some shimmer, although it is a typical Le Metier refined glow. The shades are a deep forest green (in the bottom pan), a golden tan, an icy lilac and a slightly mauve-toned taupe. Swatches and photos of the eyeshadows applied (light, and my limited photographical skills willing) will follow.
Le Metier has sent samples of this kit to a couple of UK bloggers, so I'm hoping that means the brand is planning a return to the UK soon.

I never got to try anything from this brand. I hope that they do make an about turn and return so that I can.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the photo btw.
I have seen a few pics of these and they look gorgeous, looking forward to seeing them applied!
ReplyDeleteThese colours look so versatile. I would love to get my paws on some Metier de Beaute
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky! There was no purple in my quad - most annoying! However, after my complaining about nicks in the last palette I bought, I have to admit that I saw the funny side of the completely missing shadow this time around.
ReplyDeleteThey tell me that they are very definitely coming back to the UK, and I know that they're meeting with people in order to help fix the distribution problems they were having, so fingers crossed that they'll be back in the next ... six months or so.
Don't quote me on times, but they are desperate to get back to the UK, and France.
@Get Lippie well it is a bit funny, but I'd be very unhappy if a palette I paid for came with a pan missing and they aren't cheap!
ReplyDeleteThe colours in this palette are all very beautiful. Yes, and I hope they will come back to the UK!
ReplyDeleteAs it was a palette I hadn't paid for, and after kicking up such a fuss last time, I'm choosing to be amused! Still very beautiful though.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally irritated that 3 of the pans were loose! The last pan in mine was loose but I thought it was a fluke. I can't wait to see an EOTD!

I need this palette so badly. Actually for pictures it's better that they were loose. I've only had one loose eyeshadow in a pan luckily.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your eyes. Have fun.
Gorgeous photo! I am wondering if they have production problems in general. I am 99% convinced that my Mulberry is mislabeled because it is a warm golden brown color, not the cool mauve-tinged taupe everyone raves about. I can't wait to see your look using these colors.
ReplyDeleteI love Penelope! I've been lucky enough not to have any loose LMdB eyeshadows. I hope they return to the UK very soon for you gals!!
ReplyDeleteHi Marcia - that was my first thought - that I'd be able to photograph the pans side by side! It's interesting, side by side you can see how the colours work together, even though it doesn't seem like they should from the descriptions.
ReplyDeleteHi Zuzu's Petals - oh, that would niggle at me so much!
Hey MM - well, your champion padding skills meant the eyeshadows were in perfect condition! Thanks so much. x
Thanks to all for the comments. x
Oh, OC - it was just one of those times when the stars (sun?) aligned for a good shot that represents the colours well. A small blogging triumph, but it made me happy :D
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colours, I'm surprised none of them were broken, considering how soft these shadows are. Jeanie really did a great job. x Klara
ReplyDeleteHi Grace
ReplyDeleteI want to let you know how much i enjoy your blog. It is always fascinating to see what some of the independent makeup creators in other parts of the world are developing....a little bit like an art crawl (sans the trek) with thoughtful, insightful commentary. Thank you for the enjoyment you add to my morning coffee and computer break in Vancouver!
Hi Catherine - thank you, that's a lovely comment, and very nice to think of you reading my blog all the way from Canada. :)
ReplyDeleteHello Klara - Jeanie is a champ!
I haven't tried anything from this brand yet, but all that is going to change very very soon.
ReplyDeleteHello Productdoctor - it's a lovely brand, really good quality products (apart from the glue!) with lovely textures.
ReplyDeleteThat picture is absolutely amazing. Boo for the glue but yay for the picture! I like the watermark too ;). I am chomping at the bit for a return. I got Echo in a swap last week and I've since been eyeing up the brushes.
ReplyDeleteCome back LMdB!!
Penelope looks such a beautiful selection of colours, the emerald green looking more how I expected the green in Chanel Lilium to be. Out of my 6 kits I think two have had loose pans but as I don't travel around with them I'm not overly concerned about it, easy to fix. I know the price is steep but it is my favourite product from my favourite brand so I can forgive them that.
ReplyDeleteThat is great news from Get Lippie that Le Metier are hopefully returning to the UK soon. I remember it was you Grace that first introduced me to them and then just a few months later they left. Would love to see them stocked somewhere like Zuneta, it'd be a match made in heaven.
Oh, well now I'm jealous. Both because you have this amazing eyeshadow (I tried this in the US a couple of weeks ago but they had none in stock in the two stores where I tried to purchase it) and because you have an American swaps buddy.
ReplyDeleteI've been toying with having it delivered to my brother in the US for him to bring over on his next trip to the UK, but this would mean talking to my brother about eyeshadow. He doesn't "get" eyeshadow.
I bought their concealer (with retinol) right before they left the UK and I absolutely love it! Best concealer ever (and I've tried a lot). Hope they'll come back before I've finished it...
ReplyDeleteThe lovely Jeanie is also in the process of obtaining one for me so hopefully I can stop drooling at all these lovely pictures. I am really hoping they come back to the UK as I felt they offered something a little bit different to a lot of brands x
ReplyDeleteI'm late in reading this post... I did get this kaleidoscope, and I admit I was hesitant - it was the light lavender and the dark green that made me wary - but as it turns out, this is one of my absolute favorites from LMDB. Perhaps even better than the le Cirque kaleidoscope. This line never fails to blow me away... I am now awaiting the Ecumes lip kaleidoscope... Btw, I did get a small lip palette that was a GWP - had an absolutely beautiful peachy, nude, warm cream color in one of the pans. Unusual, because i'm not a big neutral lip fan. I loved it so much that I called to see if I could buy it on it's own, only to be told that these are LE and not available as part of the regular gloss line...
