Clinique Event this weekend at Selfridges to launch new Chubby Sticks

Selfridges Oxford Street are holding an event to celebrate the launch of the new Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm sticks this weekend (16 and 17 April). Customers have a consultation to choose a colour and can then have their photo taken making their own Chubby Kiss picture in a photo booth. 4 passport size photos develop in minutes and can be taken home in a Clinique wallet. Each set of photos will be uploaded to the Clinique Facebook page, and you can go and have a look and tag yourself (should you chose to do so).

The picture thing is just a bit of fun, but the Chubby Sticks are lovely and well worth checking out even if you don't want your picture taken; I had a chance to have a look at them on Thursday evening and they feel comfortable on the lips and come in a selection of pink and neutral shades. They also twist up, rather than needing sharpening, so you don't lose half the product in the way you do with other chubby lip pencils. These launched at all Clinique counters yesterday, and are £14 each. They are perfect for quick and casual summer lips.
There is also a gift with purchase running at the Oxford Street Selfridges counter from 16 April to 05 May; a 7ml moisturiser to suit your skintype, a 4ml High Impact Mascara and 5ml All About Eyes with two purchases, one to be colour.

My favourite of the Chubby Sticks is this one: 02 Whole Lotta Honey, a warm honey shade.
Disclosure: product was provided without charge as part of a bloggers' event.

  2. Hi Computergirl - they're lovely. The twist up idea is genius.

  3. I had no idea these twisted up, that's great! Ages ago I bought an RMK chubby lip pencil and got rather annoyed with it as it was difficult to sharpen and I kept wasting the product. Looking forward to seeing these in real life.

  4. Grace, presumably all these events are only attended by London based bloggers? I keep thinking about doing a blog but I'd never be able to afford to travel to London to attend events.

  5. Hello GreatSheElephant - I think most bloggers who are able to attend events are based in or around London. Events do tend to be held in London, although a couple of companies have run regional events. I don't actually go to that many; generally I'd rather get home in the evenings, unless it's something I'm particularly interested in.

It is nice to be able to attend the ones for brands/products I love, and I'm fortunate when I can time it with days I'm already in London for work.

  6. Hi Meeta - the twist up is a really good idea.

  7. I would love to check these out - the whole lotta honey looks quite pink on you, which is comforting as I find that Clinique lipsticks (not the glosses) can bring out a warm tone in my lips which I am not overly fond of. Thankyou Grace. Jan x

  8. I haven't been interested in anything Clinique for years now, but these caught my eye the other day in an advertisement. And now that I see your pics of Whole Lotta Honey, I think I might need to have it myself! :-)

  11. These look nice, I especially like this colour on you. My only chubby lip crayon is a Lise Watier but I was impressed with staying power and it's given me an appetite for more.

I wish our paths had crossed on Thursday, I was in but for other events. Like a total tool I lost my ticket on the way home so it was a bit of an expensive outing, oops!

  13. Hi Grace, this colour looks great on you. I am allergic to lipsticks on the whole and anything lip product with colour in. Not sure what the offending ingredient is. Maybe mineral oil? Do you know anything about the ingredients in these particular sticks? Cant find anything online and I wouldn't mind finding a similar shade for my wedding that doesn't irritate my lips. Thank you!

    1. Hi Kate - there's no mineral oil in these. They are castor oil, beeswax, and other vegetable oil based. I find a lot of lipsticks dry out my lips, but these are very comfortable.

Another good brand with good ingredients is Ilia Beauty - Nobody's Baby is quite a similar shade.

  14. Thanks Grace, that is really helpful. I have actually been eyeing up Llia's - Blossom Lady too. Will definitely check both out.
