I make lots of jokes about Boden clothes and how very middle-class it is, but I do like the women's stuff for work and mini-Boden for Miss London. (1. We are middle class. 2. You can buy clothes for tall girl children that don't make them look like mini ladies of negotiable affection).
Just to make everything that little bit more middle-England, Mr Boden sent us this baking book as a thank-you after a recent clothing splurge. The quote from Nigella Lawson on the front makes me want to stab my eyes with a fork a bit, but it's a really good biscuit baking book from the Biscuiteers, who make and sell special occasion gift biscuit baskets and cards. Their website is at www.biscuiteers.com.
Miss London and I haven't worked up to the really fancy designs yet, but our iced stars taste very nice indeed. If you already make a good biscuit the recipes are likely a bit basic for you, but it's very good for biscuit beginners and the basic recipe is a great one.

Ladies of negotiable affection.....that's really tickled me. I love your way with words. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe're a Boden family. Both boys are very tall and I find the clothes wear extremely well. How very nice of Johnnie to send you this book! I'm not a very experienced baker so this sounds ideal.

They look so yummy!! Save me a couple please?
ReplyDeleteThis is bad, bad, bad news. You have now planted the seed of an idea in my head either that:
ReplyDeletea) I obviously don't actually spend *that* much money in Boden as I have never received a biscuit book from them (therefore should spend more, guilt-free) ...
or
b) that spending money until such a book is received is a reasonable financial goal!
Tsk.
I like Boden too :)
ReplyDeleteI've had this book in my amazon basket for ages, I think I'm going to HAVE to purchase it now!

Heh. It wouldn't do to be mistaken for Mrs Palm.
ReplyDeleteThose biscuits look good.
Hello GreatShe - yes, I love Rosie Palm, not a look I want for my child though. They are good biscuits - not quite as aesthetically polished as the ones in the book, but they taste good!
ReplyDeleteHi Loveaudrey - I think you'd like it. If you were completely insane, you could make biscuits as wedding favours.
Hello Rachel. I am so so sorry. That's my kind of maths, too. Hence my husband does the household budgets.
Hi OC - one for you, one for Hiro. OK?
Hello MB - It's actually Terry Pratchett's turn of phrase :) It's a nice way to put it. Boden is very good for tall kids.
I was mightily depressed when my children grew out of Boden, they used to manufacture some fab, well I suppose you would call them anoracks, but fleece lined and fully water-proof, they were great. And I still have a plaid dressing gown from Boden which is as old as Ned ie 19 in the summer....ah happy memories, infact I remember when the Boden catalogue came out as a pamphlet and they used real people to model, there was a sweet child called Punch. Never got a book though :-( Jan x
ReplyDeleteHAHA Id like to read that Nigella quote!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Those look amazing! I'll take a dozen please =)
ReplyDeleteImo - it says 'These 'I Love You' inscribed cookies...they are just too darling.' YEUCK! :D
ReplyDeleteHey J - a dozen on the way ;)
Hi Jan - yes, that's the other good thing about Boden. Even my destructo-child can't ruin the stuff.
