FitFlop Short Superboot

I saw a preview of the FitFlop Autumn/Winter collection late last summer, but was never sent the pair that the PR promised to. As sending more than one 'Hey, where's my free stuff?' email seems somewhat inelegant to me I didn't chase it up, but I was impressed enough by what I saw at the preview to buy a pair of boots myself when FitFlop reduced them in price after Christmas.

I didn't buy these for the bottom/leg toning claims; I am sure that three or four hours of karate a week do more for my thighs than special soles can. I bought them because I have very high foot arches and as a consequence my feet, knees and back often ache after a long day. The FitFlop boots are the most comfortable shoes/boots I have ever worn, I haven't had any backache or foot/knee pain since I've been wearing them.

The leather Short Superboot looks a bit like a biker boot. It's not a very feminine style, but I quite like that. I like them best with skinny jeans or tights and a casual skirt/dress; I've worn them underneath bootcut trousers, and they do look a bit orthopaedic worn that way.
I bought mine from www.fitflop.com, which still has them available at 30% off. Even with the discount they aren't particularly inexpensive at £87.50, but I would recommend them for anyone who walks long distances or is on their feet for prolonged periods.

  1. I've been thinking of investing in FitFlop boots as I have the MBT boots and they really do look like I'm wearing Club-foot correcting shoes :( Plus they cut my feet inside. I'm thinking of getting UGG-copy ones as they look nice and sturdy but will check your ones out too :)

  2. I didn't know FitFlop made boots! Amazing, thanks for the post!

  3. I am super envious. I have the sort of moonboot padded patent leather ones from last year and have worn them constantly. How did you find the sizing? Being a 6.5 I got a 7 in the boots which were a bit big but went to a 6 in the pewter grey sneaker style ones and they are a bit tight. These look dead wearable. Nice. Jan x

  4. Hi Jan - I'm 6.5 and I bought 7, which are fine for me, a bit of room at the toe but comfy. I wouldn't be able to get into the 6 with my arches, I think, and I'd rather have a little excess room than not enough!

Hi JM - yes, and they're quite nice, as well as super comfy :)

Hi Kat - yes, the MBT do look very distinctive. These are quite chunky, but they look okay I think. They're really comfy.

  5. See these look so amazing on you I went to the site with every intention of copying you totally. But when I look at the site I just don't like them. So I've spent the last half hour flitting between your pic which makes them look fab, and the site, which makes them look like boots I don't like. I can't decide at all, all I do know is that on you they look great!

  6. Hi Charlie - they definitely look better with feet in them, I think! If you have a local stockist, I'd suggest going and having a look at them in person and then maybe buying them from the online website if you like them (and if they're cheaper online).

  7. Good tip! There has got to be somewhere down here that sells them, thanks!

  8. I think they look great. I'm looking for new footwear and I'd love to get a pair, especially as I spend a lot of time walking. I fear with always wearing widelegs and bootcuts they might look 'odd'. I think the biker boot styling is my kind of thing though, so I'm torn!

  9. Haha!! I have 2 pairs of fit flops and my friends tease me and call them my orthapaedic shoes! I really want a pair of the boots but like you say that are not cheap, and because I mostly wear bootcut trousers for work I don't think they would look brilliant... I like the purple suede ones they do as well....tough decisions! Ps - if anyone wears actual fit flops as well they had some on the boots website 75% off yesterday! Mega bargain! Georgie x

  11. I have a pair of these. They look much much better in person than in most of the pictures. But I have, annoyingly, a high arch on the right and a fallen arch on the left so I generally wear orthotic inserts. It's driving me crazy but the high arch on my right foot means the boot is really tight when I use even partial orthotics, so much so that my foot goes bright red and then bruises after I wear them. I am trying out wearing just one orthotic but I feel quite off-balance. Does anyone know if they will stretch at all? Everything else about them is perfect!

    1. Hello Catsady - I have two very high arches, and although these were never that uncomfortable on me to begin with (I went up a half size) they do stretch and give a fair bit.

A year later, I still wear the heck out of mine, I absolutely love them. I'm considering buying a pair in the new zip up style for when mine are completely knackered.
