Rouge Bunny Rouge and Tom Ford face of the day

Pictured from blush, clockwise: Rouge Bunny Rouge Orpheline blush, Rouge Bunny Rouge Solstice Halcyon eyeshadow, Rouge Bunny Rouge Bejewelled Skylark eyeshadow, Rouge Bunny Rouge Lola eye kohl pencil and Tom Ford Pure Pink Lip Color.

I was very happy to receive Rouge Bunny Rouge Bejewelled Skylark for Christmas this year, particularly as it means I can try to approximate the Chanel Holiday look I posted about here.

I lined my upper lashline with Lola, then patted Bejewelled Skylark onto my lid. This eyeshadow is very pigmented, so you only need to pick up a little bit at a time. I then blended Solstice Halcyon into my crease and underneath my lower lashes.

I applied Orpheline blush a little higher than I usually apply blush, then finished with Pure Pink Lipstick.
The eyes and cheeks are pretty good substitutions for the Chanel (and I prefer the texture and pigmentation of the Rouge Bunny Rouge products). I think the lipstick is quite a bit brighter than the Chanel image though. I wouldn't wear all this together for everyday; I'd tone down the lips and/or blush if I was leaving the house!

  1. I love this look! The lipstick really brightens the face. I'm going to see if I have anything similar in my collection. I love the products you've put together here, and I would absolutely wear this out. It's interesting that you prefer the texture of the RBR products over the Chanel. I'm rediscovering my collection of Joues Contrastes at the moment and enjoying them immensley, which means I'm even more intrigued by RBR!

  2. Hi Dempss01 :) Which Chanel eyeshadows do you get over there? The round, baked ones we get here are a bit of a pain to make show up, they apply very sheerly unless you *pack* them on or use wet. I think the US, square style quads have better pigmentation. I prefer the texture of the RBR blushes too; not as shimmery, not scented and beautiful colours.

RBR eyeshadows remind me of the texture of the Le Metier ones.

  3. Come on, Grace, you look stunning with this look, you can totally leave the house with this face on IMO!
But well, I do get not everybody feels comfortable with this look for daytime :)

  6. Oh Grace, what have you done to me!! I want Orpheline and Bejewelled Skylark now. And Modesty Brown was right, the TF Pure Pink is a bit of a NEED as well... Guess it may be the only one I pick up from Mr Ford. hahahahaaaaaa

I love these colours on you, really makes you pop. I know you like to be more subtle leaving the house but I think you could rock this look, wherever you are.

And Mr. L did very good :)

  8. Hi Grace, first of all, the lipstick looks amazing on you, it brightens up and clears out your face.
Now, I think that if you'd use dark gray/charcoal eye shadows, it would make your eyes more pop, and it would create a more harmonious look, so it wouldn't be a problem for you to leave the house :).

  9. Hi Amy - thank you :)

Hello Miss Merx - it's my favourite of the TF, really is a lovely colour. ;)

Hey Klara - thank you :)

Hi Goya - yes, I think it's the combo of warm and very cool that doesn't work to my eye too. I love this lipstick, I usually wear it with a much more subtle (and cool-toned) taupe eye look, and then I'm happy to leave the house in it :)

  11. Oh, I should have mentioned that Chanel 'Joues Contrastes' are the blushes they have (this is what happens when you write late at night with the flu), but as it happens I have a sizeable Chanel quad *and* blush collection!

The eyeshadows are definitely not Chanel's strength. We are sold the baked (round) formula in Australia, but as I order everything online most of my collection is comprised of the US (square) formula which is much better, but not outstanding. Still, the quality of their eyeshadows has been steadily improving over the years, and at a guess I'd suggest that their latest eyeshadow offerings for Spring '11 is their best yet. The worst quad I have is 'Dreams' which has a chalky black and other colours that don't show up without a base. The best would be 'Winter Nights' which has a really interesting greenish-brownish-black that looks beautiful on the lid. I really enjoy wearing this quad. Quality is easy to work with, but doesn't compare to LMdB.

We are sold the baked formula in the blushes here in Oz too, but once again most of my collection is comprised of the softer US variety, which I prefer. I think their Joues Contrastes blushes are (along with the Rouge Allures) their strongest line. Great quality indeed and they last all day. I'm not such a fan of the 'tweed' line of blushes though, as I find they are baked and harder to get colour from, but still, the lasting power is excellent and the effect once applied is still very beautiful.

I'm so looking forward to trying RBR! :D

  12. Big fan of the blush. I've never been tempted by a RBR product, but that blush might do it for me.

  14. Great recreation of the Chanel holiday look! I hadn't thought of Bejewelled Skylark when trying to come up with colours similar to the chanel promo image, I only thought of NARS Fez, but the RBR one seems to work just as well!
    Really good post and makeup!!!
