New Lipstick Queen Peacock Alley trio in SpaceNK

While browsing SpaceNK at lunchtime with a friend, we spotted the new Lipstick Queen Peacock Alley trio.

This is a trio of non-sticky glosses (they feel more like lip balm swatched on the hand, and have a similar texture to the By Terry Baume de Rose) in a clear with pink shimmer suspended in it, a mid toned candy pink shimmer and a light pinkish peach shimmer. The glosses are beautiful, if quite sheer, and would work very well layered over lipsticks to give matte colours a pretty lift for the holiday season. The set is also well priced at £29 for the three (although each tube is on the smallish side).

Why didn't either of us buy it, despite admiring the colours? The lids on two out of the three testers did not stay on when closed. They weren't just a bit loose, they didn't stay on at all. It could just have been an issue with the testers, but there's no way to test that theory out without buying a set. If anyone has bought these already, I would be interested to know if the lids on them are sound. I will check back at my local SpaceNK next week to see if they've been able to resolve the issue and determine if they were just sent some shonky testers, or if it's a wider issue.

Edit to add: Please see the comments to this post. SpaceNK have identified an issue with some lids, and have removed current stock to replace.

  2. Hi Nina - blogger is being a pain for a couple of people at least that I know of. Are you still thinking about the glosses? ;D I'm hoping that SpaceNK will have an answer on it next week, the texture of these was lovely, wasn't it? x

  3. I'm always wary when the testers aren't up to scratch. I remember going to swatch one of the 17 lipsticks when there was the buzz in the summer. It was a melted, gloopy mess. I was unsurprised when the complaints about them melting and breaking came in. I think testers are a good indicator of what's to come, stores ignore them at their peril!

  4. I had exactly the same problems with aforementioned 17 lipsticks as Jane - infact after I had purchased I fortunately checked in the car and it had smooched into the lid and it was new and sealed! As for LQ have never tried the lipglosses, only the lipsticks and the SpaceNK store near me blows hot and cold, 1 day friendly and welcoming next day arctic. May check out in a different town. Thanks Jan x

  5. Hi London Makeup Girl,

This is Jessica from Space NK.

You were right about the testers - some of our Lipstick Queen Peacock Alley supply had faulty componentry. (Specifically, there was a problem with the cap, as you so astutely pointed out.)

We've recalled all of the stock in question, and we're putting every single product through our own quality control. As you know, at Space NK, perfect product is the price of entry for our shelves.

Expect a fresh - and completely perfect - supply of Lipstick Queen Peacock Alley in stores and online next week.

Thank you so much for visiting our store. Keep up the great blogging!

    Kindly,

Jessica, on behalf of the Space NK team

  6. Well, I am very pleasantly surprised by the swift response from Jessica at SpaceNK...
Yes, I am absolutely still interested in the trio, I mean you could see the drool, couldn't you? lol
Not only that, but I am also going back for the bronzey byTerry shadow-pencil. I love the colour I purchased and have been mightily impressed by both the shade, the durability (yes, Nars, I AM talking to you) and just how easy it is to use. So, definitely a second visit planned for next week :-)
    Have a lovely weekend!

  7. Jessica - thank you very much for the comment. The glosses are a lovely texture, I will look forward to the new supply arriving.

Hi Nina - well, it was worth waiting a few days before buying the LQ! I love the By Terry eyeshadow pencil I have, I keep meaning to get the rock one :)
