It looks like summer has finally arrived in London. I don't really enjoy summer cosmetically speaking; it's too hot and make-up slides and creases, and the summer collections tend to be quite bronzy, which isn't a look that works well on me. I've been doing a very simple eye and cheek instead with a brighter lip (I'm still loving Tom Ford Pure Pink and True Coral, Guerlain Geisha and Julie Hewett Belle Noir).
One collection I am looking forward to is Linda Cantello's Tokyo Corals collection for Armani, which you can have a look at here on www.beaut.ie. I'm also counting down the days until the Blushing Fabrics are released over here in the meantime (01 June). I loved Linda Cantello's own make-up line which used to be sold in Liberty in London, and I'm hoping the Blushing Fabrics are as good as her Sweet Cream mousse blushes were.
On the whole though, I much prefer Autumn; I love the berry/rosy lips and defined eye looks that tend to be released at this time of year, and the temperature is more comfortable without being cold enough to dry out my lips and skin.
Which season is your favourite, cosmetically-speaking?

In the summer, I tend to go lighter. I don't have a favourite make-up season, though.
ReplyDeleteI love the winter season more than anything when it comes to make up. Summer is my dead season, I just slap things on because it will melt off within 5 mins anyway.
ReplyDeleteI hate wearing too much make up in the summer, it just slides off! I'm at my most creative with make up in autumn and winter!!! haha.

I agree with what you said about make-up in summer. I tend to wear less foundation but I find myself using a lot of powder to reduce shine.
ReplyDeleteI think Spring has got to be my favourite season for make-up! The weather's tolerable and all the rebirth going on is inspiring :)
It's gotta be autumn and winter! makeup holds on much longer than in the summer...and the colour choices are much more interesting than in the summer.
ReplyDeleteI'm a complete summer girl. I love all the bronze makeup (it goes well with my deeper skin tone), and I really like brands like Becca which I always think of as being made for summer weather.
ReplyDeleteAutumn/Winter is my favourite! I'm not a coral kinda girl so a lot of the Summer colours are lost on me! I do like them but they just don't suit me. I love dark smokey colours and reds and browns.
ReplyDeleteI'm with the majority on this one.
ReplyDeleteI love the rich deep, colours you can use in winter and the velvety textures that stay in place.
Summer (especially in Athens) is make up hell for me. Not only does everything slip away in a matter of minutes, but also, the constant sweating turns pretty much any product into slime smeared all over my face (attractive...).
so now you know why I moved to London :-)))
I'm with you on the whole not loving summer thing - It sometimes just feels like a complete wast of time putting makeup on, it never lasts in the heat! And this is just the UK - I truly admire women in warmer climes who manage to look half decent! I love Autumn personally... I can rock the pale skin and brighter/darker lips and cheeks looks...
ReplyDeleteI'm not fond of bronzy colors on me either. My favorite seasons are fall and winter. I remember Linda Cantello's line- loved her blushes too.
ReplyDeleteI like fall. During the winter time, lips crack and peel. I wear all colors year round, just more eye makeup in winter. The bronze eye shades right now are not my favorite, although I love bronzer. But It makes more sense to me to wear bronzer in the winter
ReplyDeleteDefinitely autumn and winter. In summer I just wear a bare minimum of products because of the sliding/creasing issue. And I am so not a "bronzing" sort of person. I find summer collections pretty repetitive too. Brown skin, blue eyeliner, coral lips. Yawn.
ReplyDeleteI'm with the majority here: I really don't think of summer as a makeup season. My skin is too oily and the weather too humid. Less is more now so I do a minimal face but it fits the season of no fuss. I like autumn for makeup.
