I nearly titled this post, 'Interested in 3 More Inches,' which may have lead to very some disappointed google searches.
This is a new line of haircare, launching in SpaceNK soon. Michael Van Clarke is a London hairdresser with 30 years experience in the business, who specialises in dry cutting hair. The idea behind this range is that it helps to prolong the 'life' of the hair shaft (of course, the hair that you see is already dead, but you can preserve the condition of it) by protecting it from damage, thereby allowing you to achieve greater lengths. The line is compact; comprising of a pre-wash treatment, shampoo, conditioner, finishing product and a comb. I can't find full ingredients yet, but the range is silicone and paraben free, and the press release gives Mr Van Clarke's belief that overuse of silicones is one of the factors in hair becoming brittle and splitting/snapping (I certainly find this to be true of my hair if I use products with too much of certain silicones in them.)
I'm most interested in the pre-wash treatment, and I'll be buying one of those when the line launches, which should be in the next few weeks or so. It'll be interesting to see how it compares with Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer, the benchmark in pre-wash treatments.

OMG. This sounds EXACTLY like the hair care line I have been looking for. I agree w/ the statement about silicone damaging the hair...but people get so mad when you tell them that COUGH(moroccan oil users)COUGH. I will have to hunt this stuff down. I'm a big fan of dry hair cutting since my hair shrinks about an inch in some places and about 1/4 of an inch in others once it is dried. YAY! Thanks for this post!
ReplyDeleteHey Elvira - a friend kindly sent me a sample of the Morrocanoil to try - horrid stuff on my hair, and I'm still battling the dryness it left. And yes, to any fans of MO, I only used a tiny bit each time, and I used it for a good month or so. I didn't like the way it made my hair look either.
ReplyDeleteWill report back on this if/when I buy some.
i cannot wait for this, im buying the whole line, my hair has lost its bounce, its shine and doesnt seem to grow as fast as it used, now i need this becoz i would love another 3 more inches to my hair x
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting, wonder if his line will be available in the U.S.?
ReplyDeleteI've been getting my hair cut dry for the past 4 years and it really makes a difference. I can do certain silicones (the ones that don't build up) but the heavy-duty ones are death on my hair. For what it's worth, I love the MO curl cream but the regular serum stuff was awful.
Hi Inner Belle - I'm very interested in this too. My hair grows like a weed, but the ends are very dry from colour treatments.
ReplyDeleteHi Veuve - if it does well over here, then I expect SpaceNK will launch it in the US. Thanks for the comment on the MO - I am always on the lookout for a good curl enhancer.
It's too bad the shampoo contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate though.
ReplyDeleteHi geekybeauty - I agree, I'd have thought this would be one of the ingredients avoided.
ReplyDeleteSo...has anyone tried the line out yet? I was debating buying the pre-wash today...would anyone recommend it?
ReplyDeleteHi Becky - I bought all three steps and used for at least a couple of months. I wasn't overly impressed with it.
ReplyDeleteMy final review is here

Absolutely love this product. I don't usually believe in brands that promise longer hair or better hair etc straight out but I must say this really delivered. Definitely worth the price!
