Tagged - Getting to Know You

I was tagged for this by Amy at www.CafeMakeup.com - this is a great blog with clear pictures and interesting stories/posts. I loved reading about her trip to the Guerlain Headquarters in Paris in the summer of 2006 to hunt down the fabled Divinora 480 (the nude lipstick that Angelina Jolie was reputed to wear.)

Without further ado, my seven facts:

  1. My real name is Lydia. My nickname, which I write under on this blog, comes from my awkwardness as a child.
  2. I have had stitches twice, but have never had to have a bone set (I've cracked my nose a few times, but never badly enough to have it reset.)
  3. I love red lipsticks. Orange reds or blood red for preference, but I love the whole spectrum from brick to scarlet. I think Ellis Red by Ellis Faas is one of the best things to happen to red lipsticks since Julie Hewett and Besame.
  4. I have an embarrassing fondness for David Essex (I blame my mother for playing his music too much when I was at an impressionable age.)
  5. I particularly love Japanese makeup lines; the lipsticks don't dry out my lips, and the eyeshadows and blushes are more finely milled in my opinion with beautiful finishes.
  6. I would love to visit Japan one day, but I think I'd need to go with a completely empty suitcase to hold all the shopping :)
  7. I  prefer smaller perfume/scent houses. I do still have a great fondness for the Jo Malone line, but I feel that it has suffered a bit for losing Jo herself. I love Serge Lutens, Ormonde Jayne and I have just sampled some Strange Invisible Perfumes that I absolutely love.
I tag:

Olivia at The Land of Makeup Obscurity
Amina at Amina's Beauty Bazaar
Anna at Italian Beauty Blog
Rebecca at Le Salon de Beaute
DINKY London (fabulous finds of just a whole bunch of pretty stuff here)
Su-pah at her Treasure Trove of Makeup
and Witoxicity

Thanks Amy :)

  1. Thanks for the tag, I'm honoured!! I have a ten things about me post somewhere on my blog, not sure if you've seen that? (I'll label it now so it's easier to find!). But I'm sure I can come up with seven new fact - not sure how this works???

Ellis Faas is definitely a brand I'm going to check out this year. I don't have many reds in my collection at the mo but I do love them.

  2. Hi Amina

I've done the 10 things one too; some of mine here are repeats and some are different facts. You do't have to do the tag (I am often dreadful at forgetting to do them myself!)it's more just a nice reminder/opportunity for me to give a quick shout out to some blogs I'm really enjoying.

  3. Thank you so much for roping me in to do this tag! I too have done a similar tag months before, but I'm pretty sure I can handle another one! ;D

That was an interesting list of random facts you've shared! Cracked your nose a few times?! Ouch, that does sound painful!

Oh, and I tried Ellis Red in Milky Lips for the first time today at the store. Wow! The red is really something!! I didn't get it....yet. :)

  5. You're lucky to be able to wear so many different red lipsticks... I'm always jealous of your FOTD photos! I've never found a red lipstick that didn't make me look awful. I just don't have the right lips for red... I dunno... maybe I need to be more bold with lip colour...

I'm afraid I tagged you with some other awards/tags earlier today. Your blog is just too popular!

  6. I was just going to ask you what your favourite red is :) I watched a video by lisa Eldridge on youtube and she shows some of the products by Ellis Faas (although, if I'm not mistaken, you have the same blush, lip and eye colour).
I love perfume too, and it's always a pleasure to find a new small perfume house to love.
