If sadness had a smell...

...then for me, it would be Serge Noire.

My lovely mother-in-law passed away on Wednesday. She had a brief but spirited fight against a cancer that was diagnosed quite recently. She leaves behind three children and five grandchildren who will all carry her kindness and sense of humour with them as they continue their journeys.

I wrote a couple of months ago that I found it hard to be in the right mood for Serge Noire, but it's absolutely perfect for me at the moment; it's somber and sad, but at the same time somehow comforting. I think the camphor/incense smell reminds me of being looked after by my own mother when I was poorly with a cold as a child. (She believes that Vicks Vapour Rub cures anything.)

My mother just told me that Vicks vapor rub cured her finger skin infection lol. (she's a huge believer in antibiotics for everything so I almost fell over)
