So apologies, because this is turning into a makeup, skincare and x factor blog.
JEdward, once again, were fabulous. They sang We Will Rock You, in glam rock make up, hair and clothes (loved the black bits in their hair, slightly bride of frankenstein this week), not terribly in tune but performed with full-bodied enthusiasm. This isn't the worst indignity I've seen done to this song; A Knight's Tale did far worse to it.
Rachel was bottom two again, and finally she left the show. She out-sang Lloyd by a mile (who used that classic excuse for a weak singer; sore throat) but the judges left it up to the public vote. I don't think the voting public ever warmed to Rachel, sadly; she's smart, she doesn't look delicate or needy and didn't have a sob story or a tendency to gush on air.
Am I the only one who thinks the four judge format is a complete cop-out when it comes to deciding who has to leave? I can't believe that Simon Cowell wouldn't man up and give Lloyd the boot.

he didnt do that because he knew it made good telly to let the public decide. cuz he knew that even tho rachel was better and the judges wouldve sent lloyd home, that the public's vote was the other way around. controversy much -> good telly!! thats all. and he#s not a bad singer, he's just not as good as the others. i think the right person left last night - the public didnt like her. still sad that rikki & miss frank had to leave tho :(

ReplyDeleteLloyd doesn't do well in the show format because his voice is quite soft; I could see him doing okay as a recording artist though.
remember simon saying the lad needs another 2 years before he's ready? i think he was right back then. he just needs more practice, thats all. i still think jamie needs to go - they say danyl is cocksure? lol, ppl, look at jamie ;)
ReplyDeleteAgree, Simon copped out. Thankfully I don't think that Lloyd will win any way. I just hope that Rachel gets offered something as she has a stunning voice. Like you said I don't think she had a good enough "story". Unfortunately it seems to go more on story than talent.
