Suqqu Holiday 2009 product pictures and FOTD

After my post about Suqqu Holiday 2009 and 2008 products, the company that handles the PR for Suqqu contacted me and offered to send me the Holiday 2009 kits to have a look at and review them. Mr London is a bit disturbed by this turn of events (as he put it, "If someone else has sent you Suqqu, what am I going to buy you for bloody Christmas?") but I've reassured him that I'm sure there will be other things at the Suqqu counter I'd like.

The Christmas collection this year is based around the sparkle of freshly fallen snow. The look for eyes is neutral with a cool sparkle, the lips are softly neutral and nails have a sheer coat of iridescent pink. I've said it before, but I really do love the concepts behind each collection (from memory, Holiday 2008 was based on golden stardust.)

The eye kit is £48 and the lip kit is £38. Both of these are good value compared to the price of individual items, and a great way to try Suqqu if you are interested in the brand. I love the Eye Lucent that comes with the Blend eyeshadow; it's an opalescent pink that would work well on cheekbones and collarbones too.  In the pictures below I am wearing the Blend quad with lower right all over as base, lower left along lashes (upper and lower) and in outer corner of mobile lid, top right blended over the mobile lid and top left in the crease. I've patted a little of the Eye Lucent on my inner eye corners. On my lips I'm wearing the top right colour from the lip quad with a dab of the top right crystal shade in the middle. I completed the look with Blend Cheeks 05, Kasanebeni, a soft neutral blush. (Blend Cheeks 03 Shanarimomo, a more candy pink, would also work well.) The Blend eyeshadow itself is quite similar to that in the Holiday 2008 collection; if pressed I'd say that the 2008 is a bit more sparkly, and the accent shade is gold rather than pink.

Please note: the products pictured in this post were provided to me free of charge, for review purposes. I am not affiliated with the company. The blushes mentioned were purchased by me (or by Mr London!)

  4. Hi Jo - the eye kit is gorgeous, I hope you love it. :) Thank you for the kind comments.

Hi Sizbelle - the holiday packaging is lovely - last year's was gorgeous too. Suqqu has put out neutral quads for the last couple of collections; I'm hoping for a little more colour in Spring, as I loved Kirari in Spring 2008. Thank you so much for visting my blog. x

Hi Get Lippie - Suqqu lipsticks are fantastic; the palette is a great way to start off if you're tempted. They're one of the few lipsticks I can wear on my lips without balm underneath. x

  6. These products look fab - like the concept behind the range - I just wish it was available up here for me to have a look at - I only got a brief look in London, but I liked what I saw - Hopefully I'll get to have a better look next time I get to London...

  7. Hi Popcorn - I was a bit OMG!! myself :D They really are lovely, and I was fortunate to be sent them.

Hi Mizzworthy - well, they've opened a counter in Selfridges Birmingham, so here's hoping Manchester gets one next. The London counter is always quite busy, so I think the brand is doing well. I love the brand concept, and I think targeting the more mature audience is a really smart move. It's very office appropriate, but not boring. x

  8. Hi Gracelondon,

Thanks for sharing the photos! As always, what a lovely collection. I am happy to hear the new Eye Lucent is so wonderful. I have the other 2 and love them both. They're so cute!

  9. Hi Autumn Masquerade,
I love the other two Eye Lucents too, and this is a lovely addition to the line; I hope they release something similar separately in the future. I'm really glad to 'hear' from you, and hope that you are well.

  13. Stunning! And I'm obviously talking about you! Suqqu definitely suits you...I've said this before, but you look so serene...but I also see a bit of an enigmatic smile à la Monna Lisa in the second pic! I am still undecided about which of the two palettes I'll come away with, I suppose I'll decide when I actually have them there before my eyes. I wish my husband were like Mr London, I never get anything for Christmas anymore, boo hoo!! You get Suqqu! (more boo hoo!) xx

  15. Hi Grace
These sets are indeed quite lovely! Got the eye set and a lipstick yesterday after the massage that was well and truly amazing. The look that the SA created for me was the best I've ever had during a makeover. Wonderful line with excellent customer service and knowledgeable counter staff. And I'm sure you can't tell I'm hooked... :-) My only gripe would be that many items in their skincare line contain alcohol which really irritates my skin. Other than that, it's total love for me.
    Enjoy your weekend!
    Nina

  18. Hi Old Cow - I'm sure they'll have something equally lovely in the Spring collection.

Hi Lipstick Rules - thanks :)

Hello Anna - I am loving that comparison, thank you so much. It took some training, but we got there in the end with Mr L :D

Hi Olivia - there are some past collections I think you'd love (I have a red eyeshadow with gold sparkle) - I should post pictures. It's a really interesting line.

Hey Nina! Glad you enjoyed it, isn't it a great line? I agree about the skincare - I find some of it just too alcoholic, but I love getting a gankin massage. The eye kit is beautiful. x

Hi Marcia - they're beautiful. The eye palette reminds me a bit of the Shu Hikari.

Hi Computergirl - here's hoping it will! x

  19. I've been waiting for this FOTD/Review and I can't believe I missed it by 2 days. That's what I get for ignoring my google reader.

    Anyway...

    *Big Melodramatic Wistful Sigh*

It looks *exactly* as I hoped it would. Grown up polished perfection.

Mr. L doesn't seriously think that's even made a microscopic dent in the wishlisht does he? Silly boy. ;)
