Chantecaille Total Concealer in Ivory in action on my dark circles
This is my concealer of choice for under eye circles. Bobbi Brown creamy concealer and Kevyn Aucoin both give better coverage, but the BB needs to be set with powder and both the BB and the KA can look a little crepe-y on dry skin. I like that the Chantecaille doesn't need to be set, but isn't overly greasy and lasts quite well.
Step 1 - my bare eye. You can see I have quite blue shadows, especially in the inner corner.
Step 2 - concealer patted on with a brush. I concentrate the products where the shadows are darkest.
Step 3 - blended with a fingertip, and finished. Some blue still shows through, but the area is brighter and less tired looking.

This looks great - did you get it at Space NK? I just picked up the LM one and I should do a similar post I think to show that one in action! xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Mizzworthy - yes, it was from SpaceNK. I really liked the colour of the LM eye concealer, but found having to set it a bit of a pain. Will be interested to see how you like it. x
ReplyDeleteI've been quite depressed about my dark circles lately, of course wearing glasses doesn't help :-( Unfortunately they don't sell Chantecaille here...nor do they sell Bobbi Brown...and the same thing goes for Kevin Aucoin...and Laura Mercier...any suggestions for a good under-eye concealer from the usual ubiquitous brands?? Thanks! xx
ReplyDeleteHi Anna
ReplyDeleteCan you get MAC? The concealer in a pot (studio something?) isn't bad at all - go for a NW shade to cover blueness, I'd guess NW20 from your picture.
Basically, you're looking for something creamy but non-reflective. I always have a bit of a shudder when Touche Eclat is recommended for circles, because it doesn't conceal, it's a highlighter. When people use it to try to conceal it can look dreadful in photos. Chanel has a new concealer for undereyes that is meant to be good, but I haven't tried it.
If you can order from Zuneta, I think they stock The Balm, and that's meant to be good too (although I've heard it runs light.)
Hope this helps a bit.

Hi! I've been using Laura Mercier Undercover and it's great! What I do is apply the Concealer first and then a tiny bit of the Camouflage over it, patting with my finger. Camouflage is less greasy, almost "dry" and 'sets' the concealer, so I don't have to go over it with powder.
ReplyDelete;)
Thanks for the post Grace. :)
ReplyDeleteI read all the reviews on Bobbi and LM and just know that I will be disappointed and LM seems like too much of a faff. I threw out my chantecaille last year (tried the other more expensive one too, which REALLY didn't work!) and may well give it another go. Thing is, in photos and tutorials, even in yours, it all looks so easy... I find that after some time, ALL products eventually settle into creases. That being said, I use the Chantecaille tinted moisturiser and find that even a little of that actually does a decent job of brightening the eye. Didn't know Chanel were coming out with one. Will research.
I tried their highlighter pen thingy last year and for 4 months I loved it. Can't remember why I stopped using it now!
We're a fickle bunch aren't we?!
Jo x
Hi Renata - thanks very much for that tip. I loved the colour of the LM, but I found with the powder over it, it was just too powdery. I'm going to have a go with it with the other concealer next time I'm in SpaceNK. Thanks for your comment. x
ReplyDeleteHi Jo
ReplyDeleteIf my parents had been able to agree on one, I am sure fickle would have been my middle name! :D
I think it's getting the right combination of eye cream and concealer that's the key - too emollient and it all creases, not emollient enough and it looks dry. I also think that we always think a perceived issue to be concealed is worse than it is, and it sounds like your TM is working absolutely fine for you. Thanks for your comments - I really enjoy the chats. x
Great post! Have you tried any of Chantecaille's foundations? I'm rather curious about the new shade of Future Skin, and I'm seriously considering splurging on it :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Jitterbugdoll - the Future Skin is a gorgeous foundation. If the new shade (Porcelain?) is a good match for you, it's worth it. There's a great review and picture of the Porcelain on the Autumn Masquerade blog, which is well worth checking out if you haven't seen it already. Thanks for your comment. :)
