I was looking at the new Armani lipsticks in London last Friday (Rouge D'Armani.) I was quite tempted by the red (400-something) but Armani lipsticks never seem to quite work for me - the Sheer 10 that seems to get universal love gives me frostbite lips.
Anyway, in this week's issue of Stylist (free paper for ladies by the publishers of Shortlist) I saw that these cost £30. Are you kidding me? They cost $30 in the US, so how is £30 here justifiable?
Has anyone bought one of these? Was it a typo in Stylist? Are they worth £10 more than other luxury brands?

Jeeez. I wouldn't pay that for any lippy. Insane. With so much competition out there I can't imagine why people would part with that amount of cash.

To be honest I struggle to think any lipstick is worth £20, so £30 is ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteI just picked up my first Rouge Volupte, and I balked at that, but, I ended up getting it free with Debenhams beauty points thingy. There's no way on earth would I pay more than that just for a lipstick! I'd want dinner with it too.
ReplyDeleteHi Grace! Went and checked this morning: classic Armani lippies are 27euros and Rouge D'Armani are 28euros each...which is approx 25.50£. The price is average for lipsticks in Italy: I paid Dior Serum de Rouge 28.40euros in a perfumery where there's always a bit of discount (i think full price they're about 32euros!!). Chanels are 28euros too (Allure Laque is 29euros), just like Elizabeth Arden lippies, while D&G the lipstick is 29euros, Lancome L'Absolu Rouge is 30.50euros, and Maybelline Color Sensational retails for 12.50euros (full price). Kanebo Sensai lipsticks are ...wait for it...52euros (approx 47£). So, where are we being ripped off? It's say that's definitely food for thought!! xx

ReplyDeleteI guess they're a bargain in Italy, Anna :) I am v curious to see if they really are so expensive here, or if it was a mistake. I think the Kanebo are about £30 here - it's a v expensive brand, for sure.
I imagine that's a mistake. I just bought one in Dublin for €26 yesterday, which is similar to the other Armani lipsticks from what I remember.
