This is a picture of Besame Red Hot Red enchanting lipstick applied straight to my lips. I've included the bullet and the lid in the picture so you can see the size and don't get a shock if you order one when it is tiny. Although these are petite, they last incredibly well - a good four or five hours before fading to an even stain.
Besame lipsticks are now available at www.cultbeauty.co.uk. I have my eye on Carmine, a Grace Kelly hot coral.

That is teeny tiny... but gorgeous. It's a real vintage 40s/50s looking red isn't it. I wish I could wear reds like that *BIG sigh*
ReplyDeleteHi Lipglossiping - this is indeed proper vintage ;) A lot of the shades were based on actual shades from the 40s/50s. I really hope Cult get the eyeshadows and blushes at some stage - these are also tiny, but lovely. Thanks for your comment. x
ReplyDeleteRed Hot Red is one of my favorites! Besame lipsticks do wear very well, and feel very comfortable on. I also find that they don't smear or transfer as easily.
ReplyDeleteJulie Hewett Femme Noir is next on my list--how do her lippies compare to Besame?
Hi Jitterbugdoll
ReplyDeleteJulie Hewett lipsticks aren't quite as dense as Besame (no clay in the JH formulation) but they are as pigmented. They apply more like a modern lipstick, but the colours are good for vintage looks. I think Femme Noir would work really well on you - it's very slightly blue based, but not darkened, so it's a very cheery cherry red - perfect for pale, cool-toned skin.
Thanks for your comment :)
they are really wee, I think you can pull off more bolder colours than I can, I tend to have a real hard time with reds.
ReplyDeleteHi Grace London,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely red lipstick! The color looks very nice on you. Thanks for the warning that it's tiny. That would not be a fun surprise.
Hi Replica - I think it's because I have dark hair and eyes - I can take the contrast of a red lipstick. If you have more delicate and toning colouring, reds can be a bit of a shock!
ReplyDeleteHi Autumn Masquerade - it is a lovely red, but it is tiny! It might be a disappointing surprise if you were expecting a regular sized lipstick. Thanks for your comment :)
Great review. I looked for Besame reviews after I found out that cocobeau.co.uk, the people who have Beaute cosmetics now have the Besame range too. Think I will be doing some shopping. Can't resist a great red! Anyone tried the eyeshadows etc?
