I was in Space NK at lunchtime, and saw a few new lines that have just been launched there. One that particularly caught my eye was the Oribe hair care range. Oribe is quite a well-known session hair stylist (he worked with the supermodels back when models were super) and the products are luxurious and smell gorgeous.
I decided to dip my toe into the line with the Creme for Style. This promises to style and add shine, giving all day hold while taming frizz. It smells delicious - citrus, but not artificial or overly sharp; exactly the way I want my hair to smell.
This costs £27 in Space NK, and $29 on the Oribe website. I'm not terribly impressed by the pricing in the UK, but I find that Space NK quite typically brings US brands at a much higher price than (even the current rubbish) exchange rate would suggest is appropriate. If I love the Creme for Style, I may give the Signature or Color shampoo and conditioner a go. I'm quite interested in the Brilliance & Shine range, but at £42 and £44 for shampoo and conditioner respectively, I'd hesitate to drop that many clams on hair products.

Hello Grace! I decided to follow your suggestion and go and shower at my parents' house, so here I am commenting again, haha! To tell you the truth, I don't think it's worth spending a huge amount of money on shampoos...after all, they do get washed away pretty quickly! I use drugstore shampoos and the occasional high-end brand too, but honestly, I think Pantene does exactly what it says on the bottles and the price-tag is very friendly. I had a period of my life when I used to go and have my scalp massaged and shampooed by this holistic guru-chap who concocted his own shampoos using the plants and flowers that grew near his mountain abode, but to tell you the truth, as pleasing as the experience was (I would usually fall asleep in my chair, no jokes!!), my hair didn't improve drastically and perhaps looked even a bit lank! What I would spend a bit more money on, however, would be a nice hair mask or styling product, because after all, that would stay on my hair long enough for me to feel happy about "dropping that many clams", as you put it!!

Hi Anna - nice to see you :) I have to be a bit careful with shampoos as my scalp is quite easily irritated (glamorous, I know!) but I agree that I'd rather spend more on something that stays in my hair for longer. Thanks for your comment. x
ReplyDeleteMy mum got the shampoo for coloured hair today, I'll get her to do a review for me so I can post it. I was tempted to get one myself but I wash my hair everyday so think it may work out rather pricey, still I'll see what she thinks of hers.
